On the Trail of 007! Our Review of the One Day Trip to Phang Nga Bay - James Bond Island by Big Boat - as Chilled Out as It Gets
If Similan is the last word in crystal-clear water, then Phang Nga Bay is the last word in natural wonder! Today we are taking you out on a big boat to track down "Khao Tapu", the world-famous landmark from the film The Man with the Golden Gun, along with a thrilling canoe paddle through the sea caves.
Why the "Big Boat" Wins
Cruising Phang Nga Bay on a big boat is perfect for anyone who likes to take it slow:
Panoramic views: The big boat has an open sun deck where you can sit back in the breeze and watch the strangely beautiful limestone karsts drift past the whole way.
Food and drinks all sorted: Tea, coffee, snacks and lunch are all served on board, so there is never any need to rush.
Safe and steady: A larger vessel glides along smoothly instead of rolling about, which makes it a great choice for travellers of any age.
Highlights of the Phang Nga Bay Trip
1. Khao Tapu & Khao Phing Kan (James Bond Island)
Come face to face with the sheer drama of the limestone pinnacle standing alone in the middle of the sea, then walk over to explore "Khao Phing Kan", the leaning cliff carved out by an astonishing quirk of nature.
2. Canoeing into the Caves at Koh Panak and Koh Hong
This is the part everyone waits for! We climb into the canoes (a guide does the paddling for you) and slip inside the bat caves and mangrove tunnels for a close-up look at the stalactites and stalagmites.
3. Swimming and Relaxing at Koh Naka or Sakai Beach
We round the day off with time on the beach - go in for a refreshing swim, or take a canoe out yourself at a leisurely pace, whatever you feel like.
